Alcohol and its myths and truths study

Abstract–

The study looked at the drinking habits, (over a one week period) and the effect, (over one year) of a cohort of 42 people with an average age of 27.83 years.  As an average our study cohort drank – 41.62 units of alcohol a week – more than twice the recommended weekly intake.

Only 9.5% of study cohort respondents were NOT aware of the advice on alcohol

This ranged from 148 units to 5 units in different study respondents with over half being over the recommended safe level of 21 units per week.  There was no statistical difference between men and women.

11.9% felt they did have an issue / problem with alcohol and 57.14% felt they did consider they know someone else who has an issue / problem with alcohol.

30.95% had been involved in an incident either directly or indirectly caused by alcohol/ drinking in the last year in which the police were involved in 53.85% of cases.  50% of the cohort responded that they knew of someone who has been involved in an incident either directly or indirectly caused by alcohol/ drinking in the last year of which 57.14% of cases involved the police. Only 9.5% of the study cohort had needed medical intervention as a result of alcoholic drinking either directly or indirectly.

On average 1.5 days per respondent is lost due to alcohol in a year with the vast majority (85.7%) suffering from a ‘hangover’ in the last month.

PreTox – (L-carnsoine  500 mg, Taurine 200 mg, Benfothiamine 50 mg, Thiamine(B1) 50 mg, Luteolin 4 mg.) Study and trial for effectiveness and to establish the optimum timing of dosage

Abstract

PreTox is effective in the prevention of that 'morning after feeling' (hangover) post the intake of alcohol.

The PreTox formulation of PerTox – (L-carnsoine  500 mg, Taurine 200 mg, Benfothiamine 50 mg, Thiamine(B1) 50 mg, Luteolin 4 mg.) was effective in a cohort of subjects who consumed an average of 15.03 units of alcohol per person in a single period. With an average age of 24.8 years. PreTox was rated as over 50% effective by 92.9% of respondents and 64.28% responded that PreTox ‘helped ‘a lot”.

There was no determinable difference between when PreTox was taken, Before / During / After the consumption of alcohol. The majority of candidates took PreTox prior to drinking and this appears to fit better as a choice, and be effective.

PRESS RELEASE LONDON

Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty – a safe

alternative to glaucoma drops or surgery

- Stop blindness from glaucoma in the world today -

“Selective laser trabeculoplasty is a very useful option in glaucoma

management. It is a gentle treatment, using far less energy than traditional glaucoma laser treatments. Often, patients prefer to opt for laser before standard glaucoma surgery because the risk of laser is much lower than the risk of surgery.” Mr Peter Galloway MBBS, BMedSci, FRCOphth

http://www.glaucoma-specialist.com

Glaucoma is a sight-threatening condition that is usually asymptomatic, and it is a relatively common condition. It affects about 1 in 20 people over the age of 65 – although those of all ages can be affected, the risk of acquiring the condition increases with age. Many patients can present at relatively late stage and unfortunately any loss of visual field that occurs is irreversible. Lowering eye pressure reduces the risk of glaucoma getting worse.

Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a surgical procedure that delivers a series of gentle laser spots to the trabecular meshwork in order to improve drainage of fluid out of the eye. SLT offers a way of lowering intraocular pressure in a single treatment that takes just minutes. It is a safe and effective and is performed as an outpatient procedure. Very few side effects have been reported, and long term studies with 5 years follow up show sustained pressure lowering effects for most patients.

SLT is suited to patients who experience side effects from eye drops such as dry eye, red eye, dizziness, palpitations, depression, shortness of breath, or other side effects. It is also a reasonable option to consider for those who are not 100% compliant with their medication. For more information about having SLT, please visit http://www.selectivelasertrabeculoplasty.co.uk
